Tom began his career in print design over 25 years ago. He studied commercial art and traditional illustrating, and has a degree in Education. With the advent of the Macintosh computer, he entered the digital age and never looked back. During his career he has worked as a Web programmer and designer, print designer, systems and network administrator, production manager for print production houses and publishers, and Web master and art director for an online Apple reseller.
Tom has also worked professionally as a trainer teaching everything from Photoshop and Quark to networking and server maintenance, on both Mac and PCs. He is an expert in Illustrator and Photoshop, and is a Quark® Authorized Trainer and Apple® Certified Technician.
Tom's experience eventually led him from his native Long Island to Pennsylvania to work for North Market Street Graphics, a premiere prepress house for major publishers such as Random House, Knopf, and McGraw-Hill, to name just a few. At North Market, Tom was the Systems Administrator managing over 70 computers and high-end servers. He worked as the technical advisor to the company and was often "lent" out to Random House and other publishers to advise them in their own technological advancements. His responsibilities included upgrading the company's entire network, the installation and maintenance of a clustered Windows DEC Alpha server, and all troubleshooting in regards to software and hardware.
In addition, Tom was formerly the Web master and Creative Director at Small Dog Electronics and is an expert on Web design and design for print.
You'll also find Tom teaching courses on Adobe Photoshop®, and iMovie®/iDVD® in a small classroom setting at the Helen Day Art Center in Stowe, Vermont.
